I DIG TV! (TELEVISION TRIVIA MAKES UP 82% OF MY BRAIN)
Much of my writing career has been in, on and about tv. I've sold original pilots and game shows; produced cooking and variety shows; been a head writer and in writers' rooms; written TV movies and documentaries; television commercials (used semicolons correctly and incorrectly). I've even been a development executive.
Rio Connection
Worked remotely with writers' rooms in England and Brazil on this 8-part true-life period drama about the Mafia and the Brazilian drug trade. Handled intricate story research. Coordinated with legal. In production, 2021.
Boy Wonder Productions
After selling "The Big Split" (an original game show where divorcees battle it out for the things they lost in the divorce) to this Brooklyn-based production company, I was hired to run their development department. Created pitches and decks. Oversaw new shows for networks like HGTV, A&E, Bravo and The Food Network.
National Geographic Explorer
Wrote 26 episodes of this 1 hour global event series for National Geographic. Wrote monologues and opeds for stars like Jeff Goldblum, Ted Danson, Dan Rather, Ali Wentworth, Aasif Mandvi and Peter Segal.
The Emeril Lagasse Show
Wrote and produced 13 one-hour episodes of this prime-time variety show starring Chef Emeril Lagasse for Martha Stewart Living TV. Ate well.
101 Floors
Wrote this original one-hour comedy about suicide for Touchstone Television and ABC. Sold as a pitch "in the room." Love that phrase.
Hippo T. Hopp
Co-wrote (with Kwyn Bader -- "Loving Jezebel", "Birth of a Movement") this animated series about “Hippo T”, the Hip Hop Hippopotamus. Hippo T was created for Cartoon Network and Rob Minkoff, director of “The Lion King”.
Hey! Spring of Trivia
Head wrote, produced and voiced several characters for 26 episodes of this Japanese trivia show for MTV Networks. Also, co-conceptualized the American spin-off series, “Hey! America”.
Stump the Schwab
Writer-for-hire on this episodic sports trivia series for ESPN. Turns out all that time wasted watching sports wasn't all that wasted.
Ultimate Fan Search
Created, co-produced and head wrote 19 episodes of this television trivia series for MTV Networks and TV Land. Finally, a place where I could brain dump my television-obsessed childhood.
